Come and celebrate our nation’s Independence Day on Friday, July 4th, in downtown Waitsburg, WA.
This is a FREE event that kicks off with our famous Veteran’s Parade and ends at the Bruce House Museum lawn.
The parade starts at Banner Bank at 215 Main Street, so we won’t interrupt holiday traffic, at high noon on Friday, the 4th of July. If you don’t already know the history of the parade, years ago Jack McCaw and the late Tom Baker dared each other to carry a United States flag down Main Street on the 4th of July wearing shorts. It has turned into a tradition ever since then. Now, all are welcome to participate in the parade. Decorate your bicycle and ride it in the parade, drive your antique car, or dress up in your best red, white and blue attire and walk the parade, no registration is required. You can just show up and line up in the Banner Bank parking lot at 11:45 am on Friday, the 4th.
The parade will end at the Bruce House Museum front lawn, where the American Legion Auxillary will present and dedicate a new United States flag, flagpole and plaque to the Waitsburg Historical Society, on the corner of Main and 4th Street. This will be followed by a FREE community lunch of hot dogs, salads and watermelon, with iced tea and water to drink, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Tables and chairs will be provided. And of course, the Historical Society will have their fundraiser of selling delicious novelty ice cream for $2 each.
Bring your patriotic spirit and enjoy this fun and memorable occasion with your family and friends in downtown Waitsburg, Friday, July 4th, starting at noon.
