SUBMISSIONS

Adding your information to this website is probably easier than you think. Review the guidelines below!

CALENDAR EVENT SUBMISSION + GUIDELINES

Do you have a calendar event that should be included on this website?

  • In general, events listed here should be related to an arts / culture related happening in Waitsburg. Any event location with a Waitsburg address qualifies.

  • As a gesture of support for Waitsburg citizens’ creative endeavors, we extend the geographic location boundary requirement for Waitsburg businesses and artists/makers who are showing, performing, or participating in events further afield.

  • Planned business closures are also listed to avoid disappointing visitors.

Please fill out the handy Calendar Event Form below to send us all of the details. We generally post submissions within 48 hours of receiving it.

If you regularly post your calendar elsewhere, please point us to that location, and we’ll try to make the exchange of information less tedious for you.

BUSINESS OR ARTIST / MAKER INCLUSION

The Siren believes that a diversity of perspectives and creative endeavors is the best part of our society. The Siren is inclusive. The Siren is egalitarian. The Siren is an observer, so it does not curate outside of ensuring that content is within the content guidelines.

A cacophony of uncurated imagery sitting next to each other can look like a dumpster fire, so this publication has been designed to present each business and artist/maker with a little visual elbow room of their own.

REPRESENTATION FOR STOREFRONTS + DEDICATED SPACES

In general, any arts or cultural activity happening within a storefront or dedicated workspace (physical or virtual) in Waitsburg can be represented with:

  • their own dedicated page

  • inclusion in the Mapped Index

  • Explore page content, and

  • in the case of shared creative spaces, each artist/maker may have its own dedicated page and listings.

In an effort to make content as ‘evergreen’ as possible we do note your contact preferences and try to set expectations about how you generally work or make yourself available to the public, but avoid listing specifics like shop hours, art prices, or venue rental fees. Instead, we refer people to your primary internet presence where you can maintain that information directly.

We’d love to include your events in the Events Calendar.

REPRESENTATION FOR NON-PUBLIC WORKSPACES

For people who work in the privacy of their own homes and don’t wish to interact with the public on a regular basis, a single image with your preferred method of contact (social media to DM, text/phone, email, etc.) and a brief statement or description can be included in the Explore pages.

We’d love to have your shows or pop-up events included in the Events Calendar.

UPDATES TO CONTENT

We like to keep content fresh and run the Explore page as a serialized monthly digital zine publication. We invite you to update your Explore page image slot with fresh content, as frequently as monthly if you like, using the same transfer method as your original transfer. The Explore page will be updated regularly, and stale content will be culled.

If you have captured a photo of something noteworthy that should be posted but is not your own work, we welcome those submissions as well, and they may be selected to be posted on the Explore page as something ‘Observed’.

The Siren reserves the right to edit, manage, and remove content at any time for any reason.

COST

There is no cost to be included on this website.
