AMERICA’S MOST INTOXICATING BLEND OF SHORT CINEMA RETURNS.
What a week for fans of cinema! First, the Liberty Theater continues its free SUMMER KIDS MOVIE SERIES this week with Wonka on the screen, and $2.00 popcorn and beverage Kiddie Combos. On Friday the WALLA WALLA MOVIE CRUSH film festival returns for its 9th year bringing an amazing collection of movie shorts to the Gesa Powerhouse Theater. The weekend pass for the entire film festival is a bargain at $50 for all three days of cinema, but you might consider the VIP Pass or Platinum Pass, which includes Happy Hours in the Electric Lounge beginning at 5pm, evening parties with complimentary food and drink tickets, and for Platinum passholders, access to the lounge all-day long. Pick yours up online by the 10th. Don’t miss out!
While it’s hard for many to imagine a more lovely environment on a blazing hot summer day than a nice dark air-conditioned theater, there are also fun activities for the kids at WELLER PUBLIC LIBRARY, a family-friendly SUMMER JAM BLOCK PARTY series kicking up in Dayton on Friday, the MYTHICAL MOVABLE BLUEGRASS JAM Friday night at Mikkelsen Barn (AKA the Big Red Barn), and the FARMER’S MARKET in PRESTON PARK on Saturday morning.
Also, there are rumors that the Valley Grove detour of Lower Waitsburg Road may finally be opening up— the target is July 14. Reliable sources saw the chip seal going down this week, so soon you’ll have your favorite backroad available for early morning cycling and summer cruising in the convertible.
